What to expect
Four types of axe, one satisfying thud
Flying Angels, tomahawks, hatchets and shovels. Each throws differently, and working out which one suits you is half the fun.
Our lanes are built from timber rounds set into log walls, out in the open woodland rather than a warehouse. Your instructor covers grip, stance, distance and the release point, then works through each axe type with you.
Once everyone is sticking throws reliably, the session moves into games: head-to-head knockouts and target scoring.

On the day
How the session runs
Safety brief
We go through simple lane rules and clear instructor guidance, including how to carry an axe safely and when to collect your throws. Throws are taken one axe at a time, with an instructor supervising throughout.
Learn the throw
One rotation, released at the right point. Your instructor adjusts your distance until the axe sticks every time.
Compete
Work through the different axes, then take on the group in scored rounds and knockouts.

Common questions
What is the minimum age for axe throwing?
Twelve years old, in line with all our target sports. Under-12s can take part in laser tag (ages 6+) or mini tank driving (ages 8+) instead.
Is it safe?
Yes. Sessions run in dedicated lanes with strict retrieval rules, one thrower at a time and an instructor supervising throughout. We ask safety questions when you book, and answering them honestly helps us look after everyone properly.
What should I wear?
Closed-toe footwear is required, whatever the weather, as a safety requirement across the whole site. Otherwise wear clothing you do not mind getting muddy. The lanes are outdoors in woodland, so dress for the weather.
How many people can throw at once?
Groups of up to 10. Throwing is rotated through the lanes so there is very little standing around.
Can I combine this with other target sports?
Yes, and most people do. Our Combo 2 package covers two of archery, axe throwing and rifle shooting over two hours; the Ultimate Combo covers all three over three hours. See combo packages for prices.
Can I just turn up?
No. We are not a walk-on site, so every session must be booked in advance. Please do not travel without a booking. Book online or call 01344 286577.
What happens if it rains?
Rain does not stop play unless our staff judge conditions to be hazardous. Group organisers will be told as soon as possible, though occasionally that call cannot be made until we are on site on the day.
